Biography

Gerry Gaffney is founder & director of Information & Design.

He has a keen interest in 'do-it-yourself' usability.

He lectures under-graduate and post-graduate students in various universities on usability and user experience design.

He has spoken on this and related topics in Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, has been interviewed on national radio and has written several newspaper articles (many of which are available on this site under Articles & Presentations).

Gerry is passionate about the need to improve the quality of the relationship between humans and the products we use.

Born in Australia, Daniel Szuc completed an Information Management degree at Melbourne University.

His work includes improving usability in Customer Support and web based systems, project consulting, presenting workshops and developing usability standards. Daniel now works as the principal usability consultant for Apogee in Hong Kong, helping companies make their products easier to use.

Daniel is a founder of the Hong Kong Usability Club and has presented on usability at a number of forums in Hong Kong and mainland China and has also been interviewed on Webword.

Occasional and Previous Associates

Philipp Pagendarm was an intern on a six-month stint from the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern in Germany.

Philipp has spent a considerable amount of time working on our website (including conducting usability testing and writing the cases study), and is occasionally involved in client work. With Patrizia Bordignon he produced a new information architecture for the Intranet of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, and Philipp also helped the Centre test its new Screen Lounges.

Shane Morris is an occasional contractor with Information & Design. Shane is one of the most experienced usability consultants and user interface designers in Australia.

Patrizia Bordignon is another occasional contractor. Patrizia is very committed to all things usability-related, and keeps us honest by conducting much of the usability testing of the designs that other team members have become too close to.

Richard Caon is an occasional contractor, whose background originally is in film, but who has been somewhat sidetracked into the field of information architecture.

Su (Sumudu) Dharmapala, who is now working with General Electric.

Peter Grierson, who now works with Sensis, has a love of coffee, gadgets and Jazz.
